About Best Belly Boat: our angler team and how we test

About Best Belly Boat.

Best Belly Boat is an independent angler-written magazine. We fish belly boats, float tubes, fins, and waders. We review the gear on the water, name the shortcomings, and disclose the affiliate commissions. That is the whole model.

Our mission

The belly boat category has been served for a decade by three sources: brand-owned product pages that hide the shortcomings, retailer PLPs that never compare across brands, and thin affiliate blogs that never fish. We started this magazine because none of those three deserve the reader’s trust. Ours has to earn it every review.

How we test on the water

  • Unbox and first-inflation notes. The chair fit gets a written check-list.
  • Dry-land fit check with waders and fins. Boots go on the fins. Any binding gets noted.
  • On-water launch trial in sheltered water. First hour is a shakedown.
  • Sustained kick trial in real fishing conditions. Ten sessions minimum before a verdict.
  • Teardown, packing, and storage notes. The reader carries this boat home, too.

Safety first

Every trial is done in a PFD. Every wind flag is checked. Every cold-water session has a check-in time and a partner. Cold water kills faster than most anglers realise, and our editorial voice reflects that. Read the full safety guide.

How we make money

Amazon Associates is our primary affiliate program. Cabela’s Affiliate Network is our secondary. A handful of brands offer direct-brand programs that pay more; we link to those when they exist. If you buy through one of these links, we earn a small commission at no cost to you. Our editorial verdict is written first, then the affiliate CTA is added. Never the other way around.
